Mazatlan is one of the places in Mexico where this species, which is at risk of extinction, is most protected. Mazatlan's Aquarium maintains an ongoing program for this important task.

Camps are located at the nearby beach of Playa de Ceuta, on the north side of town, and the Marine Sciences School of the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa (Autonomous University of Sinaloa) is an avid promoter of turtle life preservation, a general attitude adopted by most part of the community.

It's an unforgettable experience to witness the liberation of turtles, which causes quite an emotional stir, especially in children. As you watch, you play a part in the continuation of life, while observing these small beings as they move awkwardly towards the shore to get to their final destination.
