Mazatlan has beaches suited for different enjoyment purposes. There are practical ones for those with children, such as the Los Pinitos Beach close to the Olas Altas area, on Paseo Clausen Blvd. which is a nostalgic beach that's favored by brave surfers and swimmers alike. The extensive length of Playa Norte, or North Beach, the longest stretch of beach of all, is characterized by its ever-changing wave patterns; even walking its boardwalk provides a relaxing experience. In the Golden Zone area, hotels offer safe and quiet beach areas with surveillance and access to seafood specialty restaurants.

One of Mazatlan's huge advantages is the fact that all its beaches are open to the general public, as should be in our country. However, it should be noted that there are public beach access-ways that should be used, because hotels usually reserve the right to allow only their guests to use their beach accesses as far as possible. Furthermore, the cleanliness of our beaches has been certified, and they are among of the cleanest in the country.

If you’re looking for beaches with more privacy, there are nice locations such as Stone Island or Playa Brujas, at both ends of the city.  We strongly advise that you heed the signs posted as colored flags on the beach, as well as ask for help from life savers, which are specially-trained to help you as much as possible.
